BE LOUD Breakfast

Andy & Brandy Sampson: Former Client & Family on the Power of BE LOUD Breakfast

We were honored when KCSARC’s former client, Andy Sampson, agreed to be our 2015 BE LOUD Breakfast speaker and share his story of hope. We caught up with him and his wife, Brandy, recently, and asked what it was like to speak at the event, and what it meant to Brandy to be in the room.

We’re delighted to bring you their response – a preview of the hopefulness you can expect to take away from the 2018 BE LOUD Breakfast.

'We must remain vigilant and proactive,' 2018 BE LOUD Breakfast

With your fantastic efforts, the BE LOUD Breakfast is now at capacity. WOW!

To celebrate this event, we spoke with Vicky Vreeland of Vreeland Law, a Visionary Sponsor of the event, about her history in the work to end sexual violence, why persistence is key, and what else community members can do to get involved with KCSARC's work.

How did Vreeland Law get involved with KCSARC, and how long have you sponsored the BE LOUD Breakfast?

We can’t stop what we can’t talk about

I’ve been saying this for the past year. We can’t stop what we can’t talk about.

I was delighted to see intelligent portrayals of sexual assault and its impacts being front and center in this year’s Academy Awards.

First -- Spotlight.

Heroes and Heroines who are LOUD About Sexual Assault

“What are you doing to stop sexual assault and sexual violence?”

That’s what Haley Higgins asked the guests at our BE LOUD Breakfast this past February.

It’s a good question, especially for April’s Sexual Assault Awareness Month. And it turns out a lot of people are doing some impressive things – so I wanted to share with you my personal list of heroines and heroes.

Why are you LOUD?

Why are you LOUD???  I am LOUD for….

Those were the phrases echoed through the ballroom at the Sheraton on February 26, 2015 in front of nearly 1,000 KCSARC supporters. I was not one of those voices on that day…but I am today. My voice is the loudest when I write.

Why am I LOUD for KCSARC?

KCSARC looks back at 2014

It is hard to believe that we are here  again... the end of the year.  I’m like many of you, I suspect, and always love the “look back” and “best of” reflective lists of the past year. It has been a memorable year at KCSARC so I wanted to share my list of top five events of the last 12 months.

Finding our Voice

My heart skipped a beat when I heard we had over 1,000 people registered for our 25th BE LOUD Breakfast. Granted, 1,000 is not that much different from 950, or 875, but it symbolized for me a breakthrough in this event.
