Support for families

Support is available for non-offending parents and other caregivers of children or adolescents who are receiving other services at KCSARC.

Our therapists facilitate A New Day, a confidential four-week group where parents and other caregivers can share space with others who have gone through a similar experience. Participants learn about common reactions to trauma in children and adults, the dynamics of sexual abuse and assault, and ways to improve communication and enhance parenting in the aftermath of trauma.

Parents who have completed A New Day and who are having difficulty managing their child’s behaviors are eligible to participate in Walking Together, a six-week group that offers guidance to parents needing additional tools to enhance their parenting skills.

Both groups are offered in Spanish as well.

Contact our office at 425-226-5062 for more information or to schedule an intake meeting. Please note this service is not designed to fulfill any requirements by CPS or other legal systems.

Resources for parents & caregivers

Below are just a few recommended resources that will help you identify signs of grooming or abuse, engage your child or teen in conversation, and know how to respond if your young person tells you they’ve been abused.

Or, see more parent/caregiver resources in our Prevention Education and Resources sections.
