KCSARC’s annual BE LOUD Breakfast, now in its 33rd year, is an event many of our supporters look forward to attending year after year because it gives them hope, and a way to raise their voice for survivors.

This will be KCSARC’s second year of holding this event online. Over three decades, this cornerstone event has become a community celebration of hope, and a way to show survivors they’re not alone.

Everything about this event has changed with the times we’re in, but we still have a moving, inspiring morning planned. This hopeful event is a reminder that recovery is possible after sexual assault, and that we all have the power to stop sexual violence from happening in the first place.

This year’s event takes on new meaning as we tally the numbers of survivors — adults, young people, children and their families — who turned to KCSARC for help over the last year. It’s astounding to consider we were able to help 23% more victims than we did just 5 years ago — as a pandemic raged on.

“We have continued to answer every call and assist survivors because a loyal circle of partners stand shoulder-to-shoulder with us in our mission every year,” said Chief Executive Officer Mary Ellen Stone. “I know survivors hear that message, I know our staff members are energized when they see the strong turnout, and this is why we keep gathering at sunrise each March. This crowd has made it their mission not to let a single survivor struggle alone.”

It turns out, attendees and team captains are enjoying the chance to show up for survivors from wherever they will be at sunrise March 3. Hundreds of team captains and attendees have already registered for the March 3 BE LOUD Breakfast.

If you haven’t yet signed up, we invite you to consider joining us that morning.

The Breakfast is a great opportunity to learn more about the issue and hear directly from survivors and champions in the community who share our vision of ending sexual violence.

This year, we’ll hear from a courageous survivor, Michelle, in conversation with KCSARC’s Director of Clinical Services Agustina Eiff. Michelle survived childhood sexual abuse and carried a burden that no child should have to bear well into her adulthood.

Those who tune in will also hear from KCSARC’s Board President, Marilyn Sherron, Board Member Lu YangCEO Mary Ellen Stone.

This year’s BE LOUD Advocates come from all corners, with fresh and diverse perspectives on how sexual violence affects people in their world, and what gives them hope. Seattle’s First Lady Joanne Harrell, Burien Councilmember Jimmy Matta, KCSARC Psychiatrist Dr. Jeannie Hu with our Chief Program Officer Larraine Lynch, and KCSARC Legal Advocate Jordan Walker will inspire you!

When you tune in to the livestream, you will have the chance to hear for the first time local literary artist Lashaunycee O’Cain reading her poem, “This Home is Ours, Not to Wreck,” a powerful, insightful commentary from a young member of our community, calling us all to action.

Our emcee for the morning, former Seattle television journalist Margo Myers, will keep the program flowing.

Will bạn stand with survivors and others in your community to help end sexual assault?
