Job purpose/summary: The Grants Manager is responsible for effectively conveying the agency’s story and successfully securing private and government grant funding. The Grants Manager should be able to accurately set and meet deadlines, provide supervision and support to the Grantwriter and collaborate with program and leadership staff. Reports to: Chief External Relations Officer
Hours: Full-time, permanent. Generally, this position works 40 hours per week during regular hours 9am- 5pm. Hybrid position (after first 90 days)
•Private foundations: Working collaboratively with the Grantwriter, identify and cultivate foundations aligned with KCSARC’s programs and projects and develop proposal strategies; conduct ongoing foundation research; write proposals; manage the stewardship once grants are secured; and manage the reporting activities and ensure all internal tracking is current.
•Government grants: In partnership with the Grantwriter, members of the Leadership Team, Program Staff, CFO and other finance staff, and if needed a contract Grantwriter, write, edit, and coordinate the submission of City, County, State, and Federal grant applications and reports.
•Maintain master calendar for all grant activity, to include submitted proposals and grant and reporting requests; create and maintain current records for all grants and reports in database and in department’s collaborative workspace.
•Develop a deep understanding of how all the existing and potential funding and programmatic opportunities align in order to track when grants are expiring and plan for replacement funds.
•Develop annual grant budget projections, track revenue received, and regularly provide analysis of financial results to the Chief External Relations Officer.
•Manage funder site visits including coordination of funders and KCSARC staff participating, development of speaking points and meeting overview, and follow-up.
•Serve as primary point of contact and liaison for foundation funder relationships as appropriate.
•Proactively steward and cultivate relationships with Program Officer directly or in coordination with the Chief External Relations Officer.
•Provide supervision, mentorship and support to the Grantwriter.

•Actively participate in the External Relations team’s planning and collaboration tools
•Coordinate quarterly meetings with Finance team, program managers and staff to
create project-specific budgets.
•Coordinate with relevant program staff to gather updates on
progress/challenges/success towards grant deliverables and current/new funding needs.
Proficiency in MS Windows, Word, Excel, Outlook, Publisher. Familiarity with common web-based platforms.
Keen attention to detail with excellent judgment, discretion, accuracy, and accountability.
•Exceptional writing, editing, proofreading, and verbal communication skills.
•Demonstrated ability to be both creative and meticulous in the use of language and
data while developing concise, engaging text.
•Strong organizational skills and the ability to juggle multiple demands, manage shifting
priorities, and meet deadlines.
•A high degree of initiative.
•Ability to work in a highly collaborative environment and as part of a cross-disciplinary

Minimum experience required:
•Four-year college degree plus 1 year directly-related work experience or
Two years college/vocational school plus 3 years directly related work experience or
Five years directly related grant writing experience.
•Demonstrated successful grant writing for the private sector.
•Demonstrated successful grant writing for government/public sector.
•Grant writing certification
