POSITION PROFILE

Reports to: Director of Finance and Administration

Function: The Human Resources Generalist is accountable for providing HR services including general policy maintenance, benefits management, employee relations, performance management, leaves of absence and workers compensation. The Human Resources Generalist provides full support for the organization’s HR needs.

Hours: This is a salaried exempt position, working 40 hours per week; can occasionally involve some evenings and weekends.

Compensation: $56,975.00- $60,000 DOE

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Assists in the updating and implementation of human resources policies and procedures and their dissemination through employee booklets, communications, and/or meetings.

  • Prepares reports in conformance with legislated requirements or organization needs.

  • Maintain HRIS through third party system.

  • Monitor and review the performance evaluation process and continually develop as necessary, ensuring that annual reviews are carried out in a timely manner.

  • Monitor training requirements for staff and help schedule as appropriate.

  • Assist in initial payroll processing including verifying submission of timesheets, changes to payroll requests, etc in conjunction with the Staff Accountant.  File all payroll documentation as appropriate.

  • Offer proactive recruiting assistance

  • Provide high quality advice and service to management and employees on daily employee relations and performance management issues

  • Assist in new hire process by coordinating new hire paperwork processing and employee orientations.

  • Administer benefit and leave plans to employees and managers, and coordinate follow up actions with Director of Finance & Administration

  • Special Projects as assigned by Executive Director

  • Other duties as assigned

 

REQUIRED SKILLS

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills; ability to relate information with clarity.

  • Knowledge of basic employment laws, including FLSA, Title 7, FMLA, Affirmative Action, NLRA, workers’ compensation, and all applicable state laws.

  • Strong computer skills, including Microsoft office, specifically Microsoft Excel, SharePoint, Visio

  • Work well under tight departmental and organizational deadlines

  • Communicates effectively with staff

  • Confidence in own abilities, able to hear and incorporate other’s perspectives

  • Ability to work effectively with all staff

 

MINIMUM EXPERIENCE REQUIRED

  • Bachelor’s Degree and minimum of 1 year of Human Resources experience in an assistant role or 2 years college/vocational school plus 3 years directly related human resources work experience, or 6 years direct work experience is required

  • 2 years’ experience working with Benefits Administration required

 

PREFERRED EXPERIENCE

  • Advanced Microsoft Excel

  • PayNW HR module experience

  • Human Resources Certification

  • Fluent in Spanish and English (written and oral)
