Sex offender notification & community safety

Why Does KCSARC Talk About Sex Offenders?

As a victim advocacy agency, we advocate for both victim and community safety. The Community Protection Act of 1990 mandates that Sex Offenders register with law enforcement within their community, and requires the public be notified of Level 2 and Level 3 sex offenders. KCSARC helps communities with this information. We know that it is difficult to hear about an offender living in the neighborhood; these concerns present us with an opportunity to begin talking to our kids about sexual assault prevention. We hope that by helping communities learn to talk with their children about sexual abuse, we will prevent abuse from occurring.

Where Can I Find Information About Sex Offenders in my Community?

Some cities have Sex Offender information listed on their city websites. Call your local city hall or police department to find out where they post information about sex offenders.
